- Suitable for AC and DC+ polarity
- Produces ultra-smooth, finely rippled weld beads with low spatter
- Self-releasing slag and good re-striking behavior
- Recommended for radiographic-quality out-of-position welds, including pipe welding
- Service temperature suitability down to -40 °C
- Base materials: S(P)235āS(P)420, GP240āGP280, L245āL360
- Weld metal hardness: ⤠200 BHN (max)
- Re-drying conditions:
 ⢠HD5: 200ā300 °C for 1ā2 hrs (5 cycles)
 ⢠HD510: 250ā350 °C for 1ā2 hrs (5 cycles)
- Welds maintain strength and ductility in high-Hā environments
- Suitable for weld joints requiring sour gas resistance and crack avoidance
- Not recommended for short arc conditions or rapid weaving

A rutile-basic coated stainless steel electrode, E308L-16 is designed for welding austenitic 18/8 Cr-Ni stainless steels. With a low carbon core wire (308LER) and optimized ferrite (~8%), it offers maximum crack resistance, smooth arc characteristics, and superior corrosion resistance. The electrode produces soft fusion with minimal spatter, excellent slag detachability, and aesthetically clean weld beads. Suitable for use at service temperatures from -120°C to +350°C.
